I want to thank all of our Cat Blogosphere friends for being
the warmest, softest and cuddliest place to land at this very
difficult time in our lives! Back in September I was diagnosed
with Multiple Myeloma. It was a complete shock to us.
I had always prided myself as being such a healthy person.
Randy and I are retired elementary school teachers and
we found a perfect volunteer career as docents at our local zoo.
As you know we had 8GR8CATS for the longest time.
We lost our Puffy in 2010 and Sunny in 2011.
Moony and Furby are barn cats from a local farm.
Candy, Tommy and Joy are Maine Coons from Chadwickoon.
Joy gave birth to a litter of 4 back in 2001 and Pride is her son.
We have four adult sons, three daughter-in-laws, a grand-dog
and three grand-kitties, and three handsome grandsons.
I had just attended BLOGPAWS -in Virginia just outside of Washington, DC and met so many wonderful friends in PURRson.
We got to see our National Zoo and meet the Magnificent 7
lion cubs who had just turned one year old.
And then this...
I want to thank you for all your love and concern.
Getting online every day and posting kitty pics, seeing all your
posts and your pictures was a happy normalcy for me!
We visited via email, Facebook, Twitter to smile about the
silly things our furry friends had done and it was good medicine.
It kept my life in balance between the doctor's visits, chemo-
therapy and the roller-coaster ups and downs.
A very big UP was the birth of our granddaughter Kayleigh on 4/5.
I have to take a little hiatus to be an inpatient to have a stem-cell
transplant. It's a procedure that has to be done in a sterile environment. Hopefully, this will rid me of the rest of the cancer and keep it at bay for the longest time possible.
Multiple Myeloma is not curable, but thanks to medical science
it is a disease that is highly treatable and we have heard of
people who have had transplants who are living 10+ years.

Most transplant patients end up being hospitalized 3-4 weeks.
