Sunny and Moony march by to honor Papa!
My dad met Puffy, Sunny & Moony before he died in 2/99.

Missing our Sunshine-Kitty on this Memorial Day too.  : (

Tommy & Pride and Papa's flag...

My dad Thomas N. Pitrelli-
was an Army- Military Police in WWII
He was overseas for almost 5 years.

He was in the Battle of the Bulge,

When the war was over he drove the enemy generals to prison.
He wasn't one to tell war stories.  At the end of his life I had seen
Saving Private Ryan and I asked him about his experience.
He told me all about it.  He suffered from PTSD every time
there was a lightening and thunder storm he got very nervous.
Last night there was quite a storm and I thought of him.

Our Lord Thomas Milton- Tommy is named for my dad!
My dad also shared a story with me about his beloved Nelly,
she was a longhaired blue/gray cat and how he never had the
heart to own a cat when we were kids because he missed her so.

Wow, what distinguished service! Remembering with gratitude our troops past and present, including my dad, who was also a WWII vet.

You Dad was quite a man. I am thankful for people like him who served so bravely. My Dad and Hubby served, but not in wartime.

Happy Memorial Day. WE, too will remember those that gave their lives for our freedom.

My Dad was at the Battle of the Bulge, too. He did talk about some of his war experiences but then he wrote a book on it. He helped liberate a concentration camp of all women. He had almost completed his second book when he died.

I never knew before that Memorial Day held so many personal memories for you.

Your Dad sounds like a remarkable man, and soldier.

It's also wonderful to see these pictures of your kitties when they were young -- especially Sunny, of course.
